Our Story

John's Story

In 1976, John was born an over-sized 9lb 9oz bicentennial baby in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA - where even from the start, he kept himself & his parents busy.  During his early childhood days his desire to understand how things worked often lead to him disassembling everything he could get his hands on.  In 1987, John moved to Gettysburg, PA where he’d explore the battlefields with his younger brother Mark and visit the civil war reenactments with his parents.  After a couple years of living the Gettysburg dream & blowing everything up, he moved again to Canton, OH where he completed high school at GlenOak.  During high school John worked on the first Stark State College Solar car among other highly technical projects.  In 1993, he attended Walsh University, which also happens to be the same school that Olga’s brother became the first Russian exchange student; and where John’s mother first met Vlad.  In 1995, John officially started his own business offering computer services to both residential and commercial customers.

As time passed and business developed John eventually got hooked on vacation & traveling in 2008.  Through his travels and meeting others, John met Olga's friend Ruta who, through a windy road, lead to him to meeting Olga, his true love.

Olga's Story

Olga was almost born in a taxi, but her mom made it to downtown Moscow hospital in Russia on time. She spent her summers at the Summer house - swimming in the Volga River, milking goats, raising chickens and calves . She enjoyed  learning embroidery, baking, and playing guitar ( although not very successful since her brother got the “music gene” ). Olga graduated from Zelenograd ( Moscow) high school and Pastry school before she came to US to be with her family.

She graduated from the University of Akron followed by the Cooperative Medical Technology program of  Akron. She worked at the  Akron City Hospital laboratory for 3 years before starting medical school at Ohio University.  Olga returned to Akron City Hospital for residency and later joined Summa Physician Incorporated as an Internal Medicine physician.

Our Relationship

We crossed paths for several years prior to actually meeting each other, including, but very likely not limited to: John ordering food at a restaurant where Olga worked when she first came to US, missing each other by a few minutes at parties our mutual friends were holding… John’s mother even knew Olga’s brother 20 years before we officially met.

Finally our friend Ruta insisted that we meet. And once we did- we only spent a handful of days apart from each other and now we are getting married!
